I Am the Brightest of Black and White

I Am the Brightest of Black and White

where there is stillness
let it be so
you can make anything
as you wish

my stomach detached-
reattached to my lungs
and I know why my screams
have turned guttural,
indistinct moans
with no hard spit

this is weakness
this soft center,
I’d scoop it out if it could hardened
when exposed to light

but would it matter?

these bones lack substance
and there is nothing solid
that can permeate such an ache.

Underneath all that breathes,
In cirrus-tones and cherubic delight,
Whose feminine agency alights the
Softness of a bitter world, there
Lies the comfort of knowing
Her healing heart remains
Beyond artistry
Beyond lace
Beyond torment
Beyond prose
Beyond kindness even –
After all is revealed before me,
Beholden to no one but her, is
The utterance of the deepest love
And in her eyes, the grace of starlight.
